Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme – Your Questions Answered

Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme Guide

CORONAVIRUS JOB RETENTION SCHEME

The government has now published more detailed guidance on the coronavirus job retention scheme so we now have a good understanding on how it will work.

We have summarised this in a downloadable guide, which also explains how myself and the rest of our team will support you.

Key points are:

    1. We now understand that directors can be included in the furlough. The caveat is that they must also carry out no work for your business, except certain legal statutory duties.
    2. The grant covers both 80% of monthly gross salaries of furloughed employees (up to maximum of £2,500 each) PLUS Employer’s National Insurance PLUS the Employer’s minimum pension contributions under auto-enrolment.
    3. Payroll carries on as normal during furlough, with the grant being claimed through a separate portal.

I hope that this guide answers many of your questions and is clear on the overall process.

We will continue to discuss these arrangements individually with clients most affected, particularly those of you with employees on varied pay.

If you think you need to furlough employees or yourselves as directors, or have any other questions then please contact us.
